DOES SUNBATHING BOOST YOUR LIBIDO?

Sexual health expert at The Women's Health Clinic Aly Dilks explained that vitamin D is hugely important for our wellbeing - particularly when it comes to our desire to get in the sack.

'In terms of the chemicals it stimulates, testosterone is the one most responsible for our sex drive and studies show that the sun is a great factor in its production,' she told Whimn.

'Think back to caveman times, those men catching animals out in the sun all day still needed the energy to come back and procreate to save their race. This is nature at its rawest.'

Interestingly having a vitamin D deficiency can cause lower levels of estrogen in women which is connected to a lower libido.

Estrogen also keeps the muscles in the vaginal wall healthy and creates a discharge - making positions easier to perform in the bedroom when you're 'turned on'.

So not only does an absence of the 'sex vitamin' make you not want to get into bed with your partner, it also makes you drier than normal - so intercourse becomes uncomfortable when you do.

The same thing happens for men but it's testosterone they start to lose.
